Lemke: Ethics Law Not Enough

Missouri’s new ethics law went int effect this past weekend, but some lawmakers say it doesn’t go far enough.

Senator Jim Lembke, a Republican from St. Louis, said the newly enacted law does not address the conflict of ex-legislators becoming lobbyists.

He said, “If you’ve got a third of the senators leaving every two years, that might be looking for a job someplace, it might be difficult to get that passed.”

On the upside, Lembke says the bill does address committee to committee contributions. The new ethics law went into effect two days ago.
