The dry air and the wind will combine to make fire danger high today, and a Red Flag warning has been posted for the daytime hours. Any fire that gets started in dry grass or in a shelter belt for forest area may very quickly get out of control.
Dry, windy weather is expected to lead to a much-increased risk for rangeland and forest fires today. Winds throughout the day will be out of the south to southwest at nearly 30 miles an hour, with gusts this afternoon up to 45. That’s prompted a Wind Advisory from the National Weather Service, and a reminder that high-profile vehicles, will have problems with the wind today. Vehicles traveling on east-west roads will have particular problems.
