Daylight savings time starts Sunday morning at 2am. Fire officials say it’s a great time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors, and even to do a quick push on the test button to make sure the detector works. They issue the reminder at time change in the spring and fall, which used to match well with the recommendation to replace batteries every six months. Now, because of DST changes, it’s a little offset. Oh — it’d be a good idea to change the batteries in your weather alert radio, too.
