Crashes Monday Kill Two

Two people have died in northeast Missouri traffic crashes in the past day. Troopers say separate crashes killed 70-year old Wayne Marsh of Milan and 25-year old Jessica Stoebe of Glasgow.

Marsh was the driver of a semi truck that crashed in Putnam county last night. Troopers report he was northbound on Route 139 and ran the stop sign at US 136, striking the embankment on the far side. It’s unclear whether the crash caused his death or if there was some sort of medical issue prior to the crash.

The crash that killed Stoebe happened in Chariton county yesterday morning. She was the driver of a car in the wrong place at the wrong time — a pickup involved in a head-on crash in front of her spun out of control and hit her car. The driver of the car that caused the original crash, 40-year old Bobbie Vollrath of Salisbury, was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries, while the driver of the pickup, 18-year old Austin Cole of Glasgow, had serious injuries. Each of the drivers was alone in their vehicles. The crash happened at 7:45am on Route 5 a few miles south of Salisbury.
