A water line break yesterday leads to a 24-hour boil order, in effect until 5:30 tonight. Officials say the break happened at the corner of Second Street and Frankford Avenue yesterday afternoon, when volunteers preparing to clean up some demolished buildings accidentally drove a skid-steer loader over the line.
Work to repair it started about 4:30pm, and was done within the hour. Because the line was open to outside air and possible debris, the state requires a precautionary boil order for the next 24 hours. Those in Novinger living south of Second Street and west of Frankford Avenue should bring any drinking water to a full boil before using it.
