A score of 2320 out of 2400 possible on the SAT last fall earned Kirksville High valedictorian Emily Pollard the National Merit Scholarship. While the scholarship itself is worth just $2,500, earning it often opens the door to full-ride academic scholarships at many universities in the nation. Pollard will attend Carleton College, a private liberal arts college in Minnesota. She will study math or biology, and wants to become a research scientist. There are 48 National Merit Scholarship Winners in the State of Missouri this year…Pollard is the only one from northeast Missouri.
The pinnacle of high school academic success has been reached by a Kirksville High School senior.
