Taney County Sheriff Jimmie Russell confirmed the charge Wednesday, the same day a coroner identified the victim in the May 30 fire as 68-year-old Dan Corwin. The sheriff declined to say if the boy is related to Corwin, who was identified by medical X-rays. The cause of death is still being investigated. The boy was charged Tuesday in juvenile court with first-degree arson. Authorities have not said if they know how the fire started. Corwin apparently lived alone in the home where the fire broke out about 4 a.m. on May 30. Three departments responded and found the body after putting the fire out.
A 12-year-old boy has been charged with arson in a fatal house fire outside Branson last month.
