MO Fireworks Law Clarified

Gov. Jay Nixon has signed legislation clarifying parts of Missouri’s laws on fireworks.

The governor’s office said Monday the measure makes any fireworks allowed by federal law legal in Missouri as well. It also removes a discrepancy between state and federal laws on labeling commercial fireworks.

New laws in Missouri generally take effect in late August. But the fireworks legislation included an emergency clause, meaning it takes effect with the governor’s signature.

Nixon says the changes should bring clarity for communities and civic groups that sponsor fireworks displays on the Fourth of July.
