Cat Saved from Death

A Missouri woman has adopted an Illinois cat once condemned to death in the will of her late owner.

On Wednesday, Missouri resident Diane Maxwell picked up Boots the cat from the Chicago shelter Cats Are Purrsons Too. Boots’ former owner Georgia Lee Dvorak died in December. She put in her will that the cat be euthanized when she died. But Fifth Third Bank, the executor of her will, got a Cook County probate court to set aside that part of the 1988 document.
Maxwell says her cat died in February. Shelter founder Marijon Binder says she received more than two dozen applications to adopt Boots.
