Paul Potter Prelim Delayed Again

Another delay in the Paul Potter case. A judge agreed late yesterday Potter was not able to appear in court this morning for the preliminary hearing in his murder case. Potter is facing first-degree murder and other charges connected to allegations he stabbed, killed and dismembered his neighbor Willis Meredith in January. The first delay in his preliminary hearing came as a result of winter weather. The state plans to file documents under state law that describe the steps needed when dealing with Criminal Proceedings Involving Mental Illness. In order to face trial, a defendant has to be able to understand the proceedings and assist in his or her defense.
