Pair Jailed After Stolen Metal Found inTheir Truck

Two Kirksville men are in custody after deputies found them with metal and other items stolen from an Adair County field. Robert Skaggs and Nicholas Pierson are charged with one count each of receiving stolen property. Probable Cause statements released Friday indicate deputies received a call from the owner of the stolen items, alerting them that muddy red truck was headed toward Kirksville with a load of stolen metal. Sure enough, deputies found the truck in the lot at Perfect Metals. Skaggs and Pierson are said to have told deputies they found the items near a conservation area in the north part of the county. It had actually been stolen from a field on Stokes Road. Skaggs and Pierson are each held on $25,000 cash-only bond.
