KMS Student to National Competition

A Kirksville Middle School student will compete in the National History Day competition in June. Lauren Kramer was one of the students chosen at the state competition in Columbia recently. Each year, nearly half a million students nationwide-grades sixth to twelfth-participate in National History Day, an innovative educational program that puts students in the driver’s seat. They conduct extensive research on historical subjects related to an annual theme and present their findings their way through exhibits, performances, papers, websites, and documentaries.

Volunteer judges selected 56 students to send to the Kenneth E. Behring National Contest in College Park, Maryland, June 9-13. Their 36 projects that placed first and second in the state will compete at nationals, including many that also received one of the 21 state special prizes.
