Sequester Cuts, Obamacare Impact in NEMO

The Northeast Missouri Community Action Agency says sequester cuts are being felt here at home. Starting August 1st, the agency will have to cut more than five percent from its budget, while ramping up internal expenditures to meet the requirements of the Obamacare law. What gets lost in the middle? People. Eight employees will lose their jobs and 45 individuals will no longer receive Head Start services. The Kahoka center will be closed completely, and fewer children will be allowed to attend the Kirksville Part Day Center. In Schuyler county, two daily Head Start sessions will be cut to one.
