Suspicious Behavior Leads to Man’s Arrest

A Queen City man is behind bars after police say his suspicious actions in a Kirksville neighborhood brought officers’ attention. Jerry Hilderman and another man are said to have been walking in the 600 block of North Marion street, carrying a backpack. When they saw an officer on routine patrol, one of them ducked between two cars, while the other appeared to be acting as a lookout. Of course, the officer pulled over to check it out — and both men ran. Turns out they ditched the backpack nearby as they ran. Officers caught and cuffed them, then released the other man. Officers say Hilderman had drugs and paraphernalia on him and the backpack had money, a gun, and other weapons. Hilderman is being held in the Adair County Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond.
