Dedication for Replaced Civil War Stones is Sunday Afternoon

The City of Kirksville is hosting a dedication ceremony Sunday as it replaces 11 Civil War grave stones that had deteriorated. Officials say the ceremony is meant to honor the 13 Civil War veterans who are buried in Forest-Llewellyn Cemetery after the city submitted applications to the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs for the stones’ replacement.Volunteers have recently completed the setting of the new stones. The ceremony and cannon report is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday.
