Eye On Cops

Keeping an eye on cops.  More police departments around the state are using ‘body-cameras.’

The tiny cameras attach to officers sun glasses or shirt collars.  They start recording when an officer gets out of the car…documenting the cops interaction with people.  Now, several St. Louis area police departments say they will probably try the new tiny cams — as an alternative to dash-cams in patrol cars. Police departments in Crystal City, New Melle and Troy may join Wentzville which is already using the body-cams.  Police behave differently when everything is recorded — Wentzville Major Paul West says use of the camera has led to a decrease in the use of force by officers.
