Steel, Commissioenrs Still At It

It’s been about two weeks since we’ve said anything about Second Circuit Presiding Judge Russell Steele and his tiff with the county officials who say his budget is out of whack. Steele is now accusing the Adair County Commissioners of violating the Missouri Constitution by seizing judicial funds. Steele filed his response to a state inquiry prompted by county officials, asking the state to dismiss the commissioners’ claims or issue an order denying their requests for tighter fiscal control over the finances for the 2nd Judicial Circuit and Bruce Normile Juvenile Justice Center. The request budget went down by almost 10 percent according to county documents.
