K9 Awarded Protective Vest

The Macon County Sheriff’s Office K9 DJ has been awarded a bullet and stab protective vest…

Macon County Sheriff’s Office K9 DJ has been awarded a ballistic vest thanks to non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. The non-profit was established in 2009 to assist law enforcement agencies with this potentially lifesaving body armor for their four-legged K9 officers. Each vest has a value between around $1,800 to a,little over $2,000 dollars. K-9 “DJ” has proven to be very successful at sniffing out drugs with his total arrests/assists over 50 in the past few months. Corporal John Taylor is the K-9 Handler and has made several appearances at public events and schools. If any organization would like Corporal Taylor and DJ to make a presentation, just contact the Macon County Sheriff’s Office.
