Kirksville Woman Sentenced for Forgery

A Kirksville woman is sentenced to seven years in prison for ripping off her elderly employer.

In a plea deal with prosecutors, A seven year prison sentence was handed down last month against 43 year old Amy McClanahan. Prosecutors say McClanahan would write a check of a certain amount, have her employer sign it and alter the check to her advantage before depositing it into her personal bank account. The first of such checks were forged in 2014 totaling some $21,000. Records show McClanahan was already on probation for a 2006 theft conviction.
