Missouri Coach Tweets Support For Boycotting Players

Missouri’s football coach is showing his support for a group of players who say they won’t take part in football activities until the university’s president steps down.  Head coach Gary Pinkel said on Twitter, — quote — “The Mizzou Family stands as one.  We are united.  We are behind our players” with a picture of the entire team locked in arms   Dozens of black Missouri football players are calling for the resignation of President Tim Wolfe because of what they say is the school administration’s poor handling of several racist incidents that occurred this fall on campus.  In a statement released on Sunday afternoon, Wolfe said he is committed to “listening to all sides,” and that he is “dedicated to ongoing dialogue to address these very complex, societal issues as they affect our campus community. Even Governor Jay Nixon weighed in on the issue yesterday saying that these concerns must be addressed to ensure the University of Missouri is a place where all students can pursue their dreams in an environment of respect, tolerance and inclusion.
