Commission Signs Resolution Opposing Power Line

The Adair County Commission signed a resolution yesterday opposing a proposed power line. The commissioners are standing firm in their opposition to the Mark Twain Transmission Project. The proposed power line would build a 345,000-volt transmission line from Palmyra, Missouri., to Kirksville and then north to the Iowa border. It would result in a new substation in Kirksville. Adair County Commissioner Mark Thompson says that any possible revenue from the power line is not worth the cost paid by the citizens. The Missouri Public Service Commission is expected to make a decision on whether or not the power line will be constructedby the end of the year.
