Investigation of Moberly Fire Continues

A State Fire Marshal’s investigation continues into a fire that broke out in downtown Moberly last weekend.

Moberly Police have released a photo of someone who may have information about how the early morning Saturday fire may have started. Investigators say they believe the fire, which destroyed a vacant building and damaged adjacent structures in the 300 block of West Reed Street, most likely started in the rear of the building, off the alley. On Friday night, Moberly authorities responded to a cardboard box on fire in the alley behind a building in the 500 block of West Reed Street. Investigators are working to see if the two incidents are connected. Anyone with information on the fire or the person being sought is urged to contact the authorities.
