Abortion Fight at Planned Parenthood Columbia

Abortion battle…over a Planned Parenthood Clinic in Columbia. The state says, it has to close. But a judge says…not yet.

A federal judge stopped the state from shutting down the clinic in Columbia yesterday — until a hearing on the matter. The state says the Planned Parenthood clinic in Columbia has to close because the doctor performing abortions at the clinic is losing her hospital priviledges at
the University of Missouri…and state law says doctors can only do abortions if they can practice at a hospital within 30 miles. Planned Parenthood is trying to stay open for other services — arguing that the state should give the facility more time to find a doctor. The judge will hold a hearing later this week to decide. If the Columbia clinic stops doing abortions, then the only facility still performing abortions would be in St. Louis
