Number of Thanksgiving Holiday Accidents Increases

The number of accidents on Missouri roadways over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend increased..

The State Highway Patrol says troopers investigated nearly 550 accidents over the holiday weekend.  The Highway Patrol reports nine people died and there were 150 injuries in those accidents.  This year’s accidents total over 200 more than Thanksgiving weekend a year ago.  The patrol says five of the nine people killed were not wearing seatbelts. In Northeast Missouri, troopers investigated 19 traffic crashes, with 2 injuries and no fatalities. Troop B troopers made two arrests for driving while intoxicated and 12 for drug violations, issued 340 citations for speed, 86 seat belt citations, and assisted 213 motorists.
