Kirksville House Fire Starts in Chimney

An alert neighbor called the fire department in Kirksville yesterday after noticing smoke coming from the chimney of a home on West Mary. As fire crews arrived, smoke flames could be seen coming out of the 2nd story of the house. Firefighters doused the flames and the home was not a total loss. It’s estimated there’s about $8,000 in structral damage. The Kirksville Fire Department says the cause was the flue around the facade catching fire. The owner wasn’t home when the fire broke out.
