Firefighter Injured in Kirksville Fire

A Kirksville firefighter was injured after responding to a house fire in Kirksville Tuesday afternoon.

An alert neighbor called the fire department after noticing smoke coming from the chimney of a home on West Mary. As fire crews arrived, smoke flames could be seen coming out of the 2nd story of the house. The injured firefighter has since been treated and released from the Northeast Regional Medical Center. The home sustained over $5,000 in damages. The Kirksville Fire Department says the cause was the flue around the facade catching fire.
