Planned Parenthood Lawsuit

A Planned Parenthood Clinic gets to stay open at least for now. Julius White has more.

It’s kind of a mixed bag. Although the clinic will be allowed to keep its abortion license until at least late this month, a federal judge’s decision allowing it to stay open for now, doesn’t mean abortions will resume. But it could make for an easier path forward to restoring the service. A federal judge said she’ll block the state health department from revoking the Columbia clinic’s license while she considers the arguments of a lawsuit Planned Parenthood filed Monday. It argues the agency didn’t give the clinic enough time to comply with state laws requiring a doctor to have local hospital privileges. Even should the clinic win that court battle, it would still have to find a physician who meets those requirements.

That left only one clinic in the state that still administers abortions
