2016 CIty Budget on Way to Approval

Kirksville’s 2016 budget is almost set.

This week, Kirksville City Council members approved the almost $45 million dollar budget on its first reading. The budget is a sixty-plus percent increase over last year’s because it includes some major expenditures like the new Wastewater Treatment Plant, and other infrastructure projects. The budget allows emergency services to purchase new equipment, and funding for Public Works to make street improvements. The 2016 budget will be read publicly again, at the city council meeting on December 21st, in which it could be officially approved.
