Kirksville Man Faces Charges for Hospital Threats

A Kirksville man gets police treatment after allegedy making phone threats against a hospital.

Investigators say earlier this month, police reponded to a call on a welfare check of a male suspect who had allegedly made threats to harm himself and staff members a Northeast Regional Medical group with a gun. The threats were allegedly the result of the suspect not having a prescription filled. 25 year old Michael Lewis says he never made such a call or threats. But staffers claimed another call was received from Lewis threatening to shoot up the place. That call forced a lockdown of the hospital. Kirksville police say the second call never happened. Nonetheless, the Adair County Prosecuting Attorney’s charged Lewis with third degree assault, which is a class C misdemeanor.
