The Kirksville City Council has approved a financing deal worth $229 million for an expansion project with the Kraft Heinz Company. The agreement, which would bring 69 more full-time jobs to the local plant was unanimously approved. The expansion project will be paid for with bonds – which will be issued by the city and purchased by Kraft Heinz. The bonds will be issued by the city and purchased by the Kraft Heinz Company. The deal includes a tax abatement period would begin in 2017 and end in 2026. For the agreement to be final, Kraft-Heinz needs to sign it. That is expected to happen next month. The company wants to have the facility in operation by October of next year.
