Year-end numbers are out on Missouri traffic deaths — and it’s not good news.

Traffic deaths had declined for a couple of years on Missouri roads but in 2015 — they were up. More than 800 people died in wrecks — 853 to be exact — that’s up just over 11% from the 766 killed in 2014. And one big reason may be that we’re just hard-headed about wearing seat belts in Missouri. In Sixty-three percent of the fatal wrecks last year — the victim was not buckled in. Speeding and drunk driving led the way as the primary causes of wrecks along with drivers just not paying attenion. There was also an increase in fatalities from drivers in the wrong lane and impaired by drugs.
