Prescription Pill Battle

Trying to crack down on the abuse of prescription drugs.

Those addicted to pain pills — or those who want to sell them illegally — often go from doctor to doctor — faking pain, getting prescriptions. A practice known as doctor shopping. Now, a Missouri lawmaker wants a data base to track prescriptions to let doctors and pharmacists know when a person has filled several addictive drugs with prescriptions from different docs and using different pharmacies. GOP Rep. Holly Rehder (RAY’-dur) wants to stop doctor shopping. Rehder’s bill likely will face challenges in the Senate if it’s passed by the state house.
