K-REDI approves construction funding

The Kirksville-Regional Economic Development Inc. board gave unanimous approval Tuesday to a $100,000 contribution toward the construction of a parking lot as part of the Kraft Heinz expansion, while also noting the expense could limit future projects.

The city of Kirksville had previously applied for an Infrastructure Community Development Block Grant from the Missouri Department of Economic Development, but was only awarded partial funding. The total cost of the lot, which will serve both Kraft Heinz’s expansion and future needs, is about $1.87 million.
