Commission on Capitol Security Infrastructure

Changes may be coming to the state capitol building, with politicians getting more say-so

The governor and a handful of other politicians may soon oversee the capitol police, security procedures in the govt buildings around the capitol — even have input on parking. Two bills passed in the house creating what’s called The Commission on Capitol Security Infrastructure would consist of the governor, the House speaker and the Senate president pro tem. Currently, security and other matters are under the Office of Administration and the Department of Public Safety. Republicans said it would streamline operations…but several democrats didn’t like the idea and voted no…it now goes to the Senate.
