Owner of Adair County Title & Escrow Sentenced for Fraud

The owner of Adair County Title & Escrow has been sentenced for wire fraud.

Nancy Porter has been sentenced to 12 months and one day in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, and ordered to pay over $420,000 in restitution and fines. She will also be on probation for three years once released from prison. Porter was senteneced last week in Federal Court. She had pleaded guilty in June to one felony count of wire fraud as part of a plea agreement.

A Missouri Department of Insurance investigation accused her of multiple violations of state law and fraudulent collection of more than $400,000. Porter reportedly sold home buyers title insurance policies underwritten by Stewart Title from 2013-2015, even though the company had terminated its contract with Adair County Title & Escrow in 2013.
