Kahoka Fire Chief Retiring After 50 Years

Kahoka’s Fire Chief is retiring after 50 years. Lary Fountain was working at the post office when there was a fire on the southside of the square in February of 1967. That’s when he made a career change, and within 5 years, became the city’s fire chief. As he leaves, one thing he says the department needs is more volunteers – about 5-8 more people. Chief Fountain was honored during Kahoka Board of Aldermen meeting last week for his years of service.
