The Kirksville School Board Says “Goodbye” and “Hello”

The Kirksville School Board says goodbye and hello. Karen Johnson has more.

School Board members certified the Municipal Election results during a special meeting on Wednesday, and newly-elected Board member Michael Bishop II was sworn in during the meeting. Gay Nichting, who was re-elected, was not present during the meeting. During last week’s election, Nichting received 997 votes to retain her seat on the Board, while Bishop received 890 votes. Matthew Copeland received 714 votes. Longtime Board member Dr. Neal Chamberlain did not seek re-election. He served on the School Board for 21 years. Chamberlain took the opportunity to say I want to thank every one of you for investing in the children of our district and of our community. It was a wonderful 21 years. Not always perfect, not always happy, but it was a good time. During the special meeting, several retired teachers and Superintendent Dr. Damon Kizzire thanked Chamberlain for his work.
