Lewis County Man Faces Sex Charge

A Lewis County man is facing the sexual misconduct charge involving a child after he reportedly thought he was meeting a 13-year-old girl in a park. The Lewis County Sheriff’s Department says it arrested 28 year old James Starr of LaBelle last week near the city park in LaBelle. The Sheriff’s Department says the Kirksville Regional Computer Crimes Unit began investigating Starr’s social media profiles in July after it received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. A social media network reported to that organization about possible illegal activity in a profile reportedly traced back to Starr. An Adair County arrest warrant was issued for Starr with bond set at $5,000 cash only. A search warrant also issued for Starr’s home in LaBelle turned up several computer-related items.
