NECAC Accepting Applications for Energy Assistance

Colder temperatures are forecast to move into Northeast Missouri, and the North East Community Action Corporation is offering help for eligible clients needing energy assistance. Qualifying elderly and disabled clients who need help paying their energy bills can apply. On December 1, families and others needing assistance may apply. The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program and the Energy Crisis Intervention Program are funded by the federal government and distributed through the states, which contract with non-profit groups such as NECAC to administer the programs at the local level. NECAC serves 12 Missouri counties including a number in this area: Lewis, Macon, Marion, Monroe, and Shelby. Get more information by visiting a NECAC County Service Center or calling 1-800-748-7636.
