Kirksville Man Charged in Axe Attack

A man from Kirksville is facing charges after attacking a woman with an axe. On Sunday afternoon, Kirksville Police responded to an apartment following a report that a woman had been struck with a hatchet. The victim had been cut on the neck. She told an officer that 43-year-old Johnny Earl Crocetti forcefully entered the apartment she was in and grabbed a wood-cutting axe from her room and started swinging it. That’s when the victim was cut. Crocitti told police that the woman was coming towards him with the axe during an argument, and he took it from her. Crocetti has been charged with a class D felony of second-degree domestic assault and a class E felony of unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held in the Adair County Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond.
