Adair County Opioid Coalition Hosts 2nd Opioid Summit

The Adair County Opioid Coalition is hosting its second Opioid Summit today. The coalitions’s mission is to work together to keep individuals, their families, and the community safe from prescription pain medication and heroin misuse and poisonings.

The summit, which kicks off this morning at the Truman State University Student Union, and will feature speakers on a variety of topics like: treatment and prevention for opioid addiction, mental health concerns, and more. Speakers at the Summit today include: Attorney General Eric Schmitt; Nora Bock, the deputy director of community treatment for the Division of Behavioral Health; Adair County Sheriff Robert Hardwick; Kat Probst of the Adair County Ambulance District; and more.

The public is also invited to attend a FREE documentary screening of “Not My Child” Helping Families Understand Substance Use and Recovery. It’s showing from 1:30PM-3:30PM, also at TSU’s Student Union. In the film, parents share their personal experiences and knowledge to help support other parents and families dealing with the disease of addiction.
