City Council to Approve Bid for Aquatic Center

During their meeting today, the Kirksville City Council will approve a bid for the new Aqautic Center. Back in June, construction bids for the original plans for the new Aquatic Center came in $2.5 million dollars higher than was budgeted. As a result, Parks and Recreation, the City Council, and the designer, SFS Architecture, redesigned several parts of the project to bring the costs down. The new bids – that came in last month were lower than the first – but were still above the $6.5 million budgeted for the project. Officials didn’t want to make any more design changes, so the City Council agreed to approve some financial support from the city’s general fund. The low bid that will be approved for the Aquatic Center is $7,789,250 from Irvinbilt Constructors in Chillicothe, Mo. The new outdoor pool will open in May 2021
