Mayor Issues State of Emergency for Kirksville

The Mayor of the City of Kirksville, Missouri, Zac Burden, has issued a proclamation declaring that a state of emergency exists in our city due to the threat of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in line with state and federal recommendations. The City Council met during a special City Council Meeting on Friday, during which Mayor Burden issued the proclamation. This proclamation was prepared in the hope that Dr. Randall Williams, Director of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, at the direction of Missouri Governor Mike Parson, would authorize the City’s ability to limit public and social gatherings – with exceptions – and the Mayor and City Council supports their actions.

All City buildings are closed to the public, effective immediately. However, City employees will be available by phone or email and in some instances by appointment.
