Arrest Made in Stolen Beehives Case

The case of stolen beehives in several Northeast Missouri counties appears to have been solved. The nearly year-long investigation resulted in the arrest of 42-year old Ricky Elam of New Cambria. Following a rash of stolen beehives earlier in the year in Randolph, Macon, Linn, and Schuyler Counties, a Macon County theft victim installed a GPS tracker on a beehive. The beehive was stolen Wednesday night and the tracker led police to Elam’s residence. A search turned up around a dozen stolen beehives. Elam faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.
