New Principal Named for KHS

Kirksville High School has a new principal. The Kirksville R-III Board of Education announced yesterday the hiring of Mr. Christopher Best of Kirksville, who will serve in the role effective July 1st. In a press release, the Board said Mr. Best is a well-known and highly respected member of the community. He is currently serving as the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for the School District which he stated will help him “package big picture implications [of education] in a way that will resonate with teachers…in a manner that allows the school to stay focused on a shared goal of student achievement.

As a teacher for 17 years at KHS, Best was nominated four times for the Teacher of the Year recognition. He also mentored numerous beginning teachers through a partnership with Truman State University, and provided seasoned teachers valuable support and guidance in their efforts to become great. The Board anticipates that Mr. Best’s example and instructional expertise will lead to greater positivity and student engagement at Kirksville High School.
