Linn County Sheriff Warns of Scam

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says they’ve received multiple reports of a scam involving a man impersonating a Linn County Sheriff’s Deputy. He calls homes and tells the resident they have an outstanding warrant for their arrest with a bond of $30,000 or more. The caller then instructs the victim to purchase a visa gift card, put money on the card, and then provide the card number to the caller in order to satisfy the warrant. The Linn County Sheriff says they’re office will not contact you by phone advising you of a warrant for your arrest and will not accept a visa gift card for bond.
