Local Leaders Split on Possible Mask Mandate

As COVID-19 cases continue to rise, a mask mandate has been discussed for Adair County. Elected officials, as well and school and health leaders, have been considering possible solutions to slow the spread of the virus. The city council and health department are in favor of a mask mandate, while the Adair County Commission is not. There’s also been a call for improved education, as local health officials have expressed frustration with resistance by some residents over contact tracing. And with more people violating quarantine orders, local leaders are considering potential legal ramifications as the violation is a misdemeanor crime. So far, no one has been prosecuted.
