New Year Begins With Snow Emergency

The City of Kirksville is declaring a Snow Emergency due to snow and ice that is expected just after we ring in the new year tonight.

So, all vehicles parked on designated Snow Emergency Routes, including City streets in the Downtown, must be moved within two hours, or by 3:00 am.

Some forecasts are predicting 8 to 12 inches of snow with wind chills of minus-20 degrees.

Kirksville Police Looking For Shooter

Several people were shot Thursday just before noon on West Dodson in Kirksville. Police said there were multiple victims, but did not say how many had been shot.

The victms knew the shooter, telling police he is Anquan Glover. Now police are trying to find him.

He may be driving an organge truck. Police say they pinged his cell phone and it showed he was in the Brookfield area. But Glover then turned his phone off. Anquan Eugene Glover is black, 5’11” tall, 145 lbs.

Police said he is armed and dangerous.

New Guidelines For Covid Quarantines

The Feds are changing the guidelines on how long you should quarantine if you have covid; and the Missouri health department is going along with the new rules.

So, if you test positive for COVID-19, regardless of vaccine status, you should isolate at home for five days. If you have no symptoms — or they are improving after five days — you can leave home, but wear a mask for another five days.

With snow expected Friday night, the city of Kirksville plans on announcing a Snow Emergency, if the predictions of winter weather pan-out. Once the Snow Emergency is declared, all vehicles parked on designated Snow Routes, including City streets in the Downtown, must be moved within two hours. If vehicles are not moved, they will be ticketed or towed.

More Vaccine Clinics This Week As Covid Cases Climb

Covid count: 44 news cases Monday in Adair county. The youngest, a one year old girl. The oldest, a 78 year old woman.

Eight of the cases reported from the local schools. And 11 of the 44 — or 25% — had been vaccinated.

There’s an adult vaccination clinic today at the health dept and a pediatric vaccination clinic on Thursday. To register for a shot, call the health department.

Drugs And Murder. Woman Uses Sword To Kill Boyfriend

Unusual murder. In Cape Girardeau, a woman is charged with killing her boyfriend on Christmas Eve with a sword.

32-year-old Brittany Wilson called police to tell them what she did. They found her outside the home — a sword in the yard, and blood on her clothes. Wilson told police the two had taken meth, and she said that by stabbing him, she set him free from other creatures living in his body.

Knox County Train Jumps The Tracks

A train derailment, Sunday morning in Knox County. 40 cars of a BNSF train jumed the tracks just after 6:30. A variety of freight was hauled, but no hazardous cargo. No one was hurt. Investigators are still working to figure out what caused the derailment.

Covid Cases Climb Locally, Patients May Soon Pop A Pill

Covid count: another 22 new cases of the virus in Adair county by mid-week. The youngest a two year old girl. The oldest and 80 year old man.

The Feds have now approved two different pills that covid patients can take to lessen the severity of the virus. One of the pills, by Merck. The other by Pfizer. But the pills are expected to be in short supply for a while until production is ramped up.

Guardian Angels And A Tractor Accident

“He had his guardian angels with him.” That’s what a woman wrote on Facebook, after her father was hit by his tractor while working on a farm near Clarence. Jim Chin seriously hurt. His daughter says the tractor rolled over him, putting his hip out of joint. His pelvis is broken. He also has broken ribs. And, there is internal bleeding. The family is asking for prayer.

Squabbling Over The Governor’s Mansion

Controversy over the governor’s mansion. A member of the foundation that oversees the Missouri Governor’s Mansion says she quit because the governor’s wife is making too many decisions. Marion Smith first raised her concerns about Teresa Parson in October. She says the governor’s wife dictates staffing and tells the foundation how to spend money. This comes after a longtime director of the Friends of the mansion also quit. The governor’s office says he and his wife support the work of the foundation.
