A 9-year old Kirksville boy is finishing his preparation for the Hershey’s Track and Field Games North America Final. Seger Nelson will travel to Hersey, Pennsylvania this weekend to participate in the event. Nelson will be competing in the softball throw competition. After throwing a personal best 132 feet in the local competition, he went on to win his age group in state and regionals. He says he is looking forward to the competition and the trip of a lifetime. According to a release, Hershey’s track and field program was created in 1977 to promote youth physical fitness and provide fun learning experiences for children 9 to 14 years old. It’s the first time ever a Kirksville youth has participated in the games. Missouri will be sending a total of 5 athletes to this weekend’s competition.
