That means the Show Me State will be shown only eight seats in Congress, but it wouldn’t happened until the 2012 elections. Election Data Services has studied census numbers for three decades and has determined, contrary to earlier reports that Minnesota will not lose a congressional seat — Missouri will.
“It does look like you are now on the losing side. Previously, you were just on the edge in our 2009 study; you were coming in at seat number 435. However, it looks like, in the new set of data, that the state of Minnesota ended up pulling in a little more people and you dropped out.”
EDS President Kimball Brace said Missouri actually dropped to 441, but fear not. He said there is something we can do to improve our place in Congress.
“You only need about another 36,723 people to be added to your population in testament right now, in order to get back that seat.”
Brace said the final official census figures will be announced at the end of the year.
